Carers Access to Health

The Carers Access to Health supports people who have a caring role, to
attend a health related appointment within the district of either Preston or
South Ribble. The carer or the cared for must be over 65 years, and live independently in the community. Priority will be given to people who do not have any formal caring network system, respite, day support The service could: * Support a carer to negotiate with health professionals to enable appointments and treatments to be arranged at times and venues that can accommodate Caring commitments * Provide a limited sitting service whilst the carer attends an appointment * Assist the carer and cared for to attend appointments and offer signposting to other agencies e.g. PALS, advocacy service or other services provided by Age Concern Preston and South Ribble We are unable to: * Provide personal care, administer medication, transport or support for those with mental health problems This service is free of charge however there could be travel or parking fees to pay whilst attending medical appointments.
