What’s involved

Groups of older people

All of our volunteers are asked to complete an application form, help can be given if needed. Once we have received your application form back, referees will be approached. You will then meet the Volunteer Co-ordinator for an informal chat, about the organisation, the role you have chosen, and if necessary criminal records checks will be made. Each role has a Role Outline please click here to see an example.

If you like the role outline and agree to continue the process, the Volunteer Co-ordinator will arrange for you to meet someone from your chosen department. They will have been given details from your initial chat and will discuss the details about the scheme or service. If everyone agrees to go ahead you will then be invited to a trial visit. Further information about the organisation and your role is in your volunteer handbook which will be issued on your first day.

Our volunteers are asked to give a regular commitment, the service we provide is vital to older people. However we do realise you have other commitments; please do tell us your availability so that we can place you in a suitable service for the time you would like to donate.
