Community Links Scheme

Groups of older people

The Community Links Scheme provides a visiting and a phone-a-friend service to enable people who are isolated to have social contact, we do this by providing volunteer befrienders and by co-ordinating events that you could attend. We offer this service by using co-ordinators who are assisted by volunteers that are caring and capable and specially selected for the scheme.

Our volunteers are carefully matched with you and together you identify activities that are of mutual interest.

Community Links can provide ‘a friend’ to:

* Have a cup of tea and a chat with
* Help you join a club or group activity
* Restart a hobby
* Assist with reading or writing a letter
* Help you attend local community events
* Go with you for a walk in the park

We are unable to provide:

* A sitting service, transport or support for those with mental health problems

If you wish to use this service or would like further information, please contact us on 01772 552880. Out of office hours a message can be left on our telephone answering machine.

Your comments: “I start looking forward to my next visit from my volunteer as soon as she says goodbye”
