Every day we thank our volunteers who without their support we couldn’t provide the services we do.
Each year, all voluntary organisations set aside a week in June to formally recognise volunteering. This can include many different aspects, recruit, reward and recognize are the main themes of the week.
As the Volunteer Recruitment Officer I have contact with all our volunteers in some aspect but after they have completed the recruitment process I don’t see many of them again until this week. Everyone is busy in the roles that they have agreed to support whether it be in our shop, offices or home visiting services or indeed one of the many others. Too busy sometimes they’ve said but you know what they say – if you want something done, ask a busy person. Seriously though if people’s circumstances do change and they find they need to change their volunteering role, they can.
If you would like to know more about volunteering and the roles we can offer and be here for Volunteers Week next year please do contact the volunteer co-ordinator on 01772 552865 or complete an expression of interest on our website on the volunteering page.
If you have never been to Arkwright House it is on Stoneygate with an easy to recognise entrance if you know what you are looking for (see picture). Maureen is pictured with Kath in the garden receiving her certificate of appreciation, just one way we are saying thanks today.
