Who’s bee–n living in Charnley Fold Bird House!

Charnley Fold’s garden has a new lodger called Bombus Hypnorum – or Tree Bumblebee. A swarm has made the bird house their home. We’ve been advised they will be good tenants for the next few months providing a very welcome pollination service for our plants before they will sadly die off later in summer. Tree bumblebees arrived in the UK 10 years ago and their numbers are on the increase, which is good news when some other types of bumblebee are declining in numbers.
