A thrill of a shop

Lisa Howarth is a valued and long-standing member of our volunteer team at Leyland shop, giving her time and commitment to the shop on 2 days a week.
Lisa has combined her love of volunteering with her passion for poetry and created the following poem….
A thrill of a shop
Lots of CD’s rock and pop
Lots of DVD’s, romance and New York cops
Maybe a lovely designer top
A stylish one-off gem
And a nice parker fountain pen
A leather jacket or a tennis racket
Or some playing cards in their original packet!
A box of magic
Or a pair of unworn shoes to wag it!
A child’s keyboard
The occasional guitar
A glass jar for your savings
Handbags and purses in the window
And a brilliant display of silver thimbles
Ornaments to collect
Retro clothes and old comics to protect
Lots of books, cookery books, best-sellers
Racy reads or welling tears
Pretty jewellery on the shop counter,
We really are an all rounder
Or a like-new watch that’s worth lot’s!
Children’s clothes, PJ’s and superhero outfits
Children’s books for budding poets
And toys, there’s something different every week,
Teddies, marbles, dolls, cars to seek!
Puzzles and board games, computer games
Pictures of floral frames
Pictures on walls, mirrors if you’re short or tall
The staff are friendly and the stock is trendy!
Vintage vinyl records and a little modal of Concorde
Have a chat by the bric-n-brac
Pick up some plates and a toy for the cat
We also have furniture and electricals
Maybe even a child’s bicycle
So if you are looking for a Wedding outfit or some holiday clothes
We have a treasure trove of timeless items you can nose!
So come on a journey to Age Concern and make heads turn!
