Betty was struggling with daily chores

Betty who is in her late 80’s is a carer for her husband was feeling unwell and was struggling with daily tasks. She had no energy, and things were getting her down.  She had no immediate family and felt very lonely.

She usually went on the Community Shopping Bus, but was unable to do this due to being unwell.  She had a private cleaner, but was struggling to go the laundry and get washing dry, and also change the bed.

Betty was supported by with shopping for her and changing the bed.  The staff member contacted the local launderette and arranged a permanent collection service so they collect washing every week, wash, dry and return it.  Betty was also provided with information regarding frozen meals to be delivered.  Betty said she couldn’t thank us enough, I don’t know how I would have managed without your help you are wonderful!

Betty used the Promoting Independence Service Strand 2. Click here to visit the Promoting Independence page.
